Pharmacist
The IHTC pharmacist is responsible for the dispensation of factor products for treatment center patients who are enrolled in the homecare program. The pharmacist oversees factor inventory and troubleshoots supply issues. He also provides pharmacological information to patients and physicians. The pharmacist has regular contact with insurance companies in answering questions about the PHS pharmacy program sponsored by the federal government, in which the IHTC participates. The program allows the center to make factor available at discounted prices, providing a significant cost savings that benefits patients and insurers. This program also helps keep patients connected with their local comprehensive hemophilia treatment center, a relationship that has been shown by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to significantly reduce morbidity and mortality of disease.
