Complete Care for Kids with Sickle Cell Disease

Child Life Specialist

Coping with a chronic illness is difficult for all ages. Our child life specialist teaches coping skills and techniques and assists with age-specific explanations of procedures and provides support to you and other family members.

Transition Program

Teens need to learn the skills required to become a successful adult. A successful healthcare transition means having the skills needed to take control of healthcare on your own. This is a process that starts early and is a joint effort involving the patient, family, and healthcare team.

Camp Silver Moon

The IHTC’s Camp Silver Moon is an exciting, one-of-a-kind summer experience for children ages 7-16 with sickle cell disease. This week-long event in North Webster, Indiana, provides an opportunity for children to engage in a variety of fun activities against the backdrop of an outdoor adventure camp.

Children play, create, and learn alongside their peers while making memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. Along the way, interactive lessons on healthy living will encourage them to put what they have learned about their sickle cell disease into practice and share their experiences with other children who understand their unique background.

Camp Silver Moon is a special event that you don’t want to miss!
