Update About COVID-19 Vaccines

12/16/2020

Dear IHTC Patients and Families:

You have likely heard the news of one COVID-19 vaccine that has been authorized for Emergency Use, and the likely authorization of a second. This promising news is the next necessary step toward ending the coronavirus pandemic.

IHTC leaders continue to seek the most up-to-date information about these vaccines. We will keep our staff, patients and families informed as we learn more.

Here’s what we know at this time:

COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution
There is a limited supply of the vaccine. Certain groups of people will receive the vaccine first because of their job or health risk factors. For example, people who work with COVID-19 patients, the elderly and other frontline medical workers will receive the vaccine first. If you are not in one of those groups, it might be a few months before you can receive the vaccine.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information
The Centers for Disease Control continues to update its information about COVID-19 vaccines here.

While this news is positive, the pandemic is not over. We encourage you to continue wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and washing your hands to prevent the spread of the virus.

IHTC is proud to be your healthcare provider and our staff is available if you have any questions or concerns as this news develops.
