Distinguished bleeding disorder leadership

As Indiana’s only federally recognized hemophilia treatment center, IHTC is one of the nation’s largest hemophilia treatment centers, delivering innovative, multi-disciplinary care to pediatric and adult patients.

Renowned Practitioners

Our nationally and internationally recognized pediatric and adult hematologists provide leadership to the blood disorder community. With a large patient population representing even the rarest disorders, our team’s unique expertise helps us drive advanced research and develop innovative treatment protocols.

TRAINING & COLLABORATION

Because of our unique approach and patient population, the IHTC trains doctors, nurses, and specialists from other hemophilia treatment centers and hospitals around the country. Our in-depth training helps benefit patients beyond our geographical reach.

INNOVATIVE TREATMENTS

Our position as a center of excellence for treatment of common and rare blood disorders allows us to pursue innovative treatments. We use our expertise to develop experimental therapies and treatment plans, to identify emerging complications, and to enable better outcomes for our patients.

COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE

We routinely seek accreditation by the industry’s top organizations to ensure we’re hitting the mark. IHTC patients and their loved ones can rest assured our staff go above and beyond to achieve the highest standards in care.

IHTC is proud of its URAC accreditation in Specialty Pharmacy. URAC is the independent leader in promoting healthcare quality through leadership, accreditation, measurement and innovation. By achieving this status, IHTC has demonstrated a comprehensive commitment to quality care, improved processes and better patient outcomes.

The IHTC’s pharmacy program is integrated into the center’s bleeding disorder services. Cost-contained clotting factor concentrate, 24/7 access, rapid statewide delivery, and assay management are a few of the critical benefits available to IHTC pharmacy patients.

Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC)

IHTC is accredited by Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for compliance with a comprehensive set of standards. ACHC is a third-party accreditation organization that has developed the highest national standards that providers are measured against in order to illustrate their ability to effectively and efficiently deliver quality healthcare products and services to consumers.

What does it mean for you?
ACHC accreditation requires healthcare organizations to demonstrate compliance with specific quality and process standards. By choosing a healthcare provider that has achieved ACHC accreditation, you can take comfort in knowing that you will receive the highest quality of care.

Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC)

IHTC has achieved national medical home certification by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

The Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center (IHTC), Indiana’s only federally recognized Hemophilia Treatment Center, is the first Hemophilia Treatment Center in the U.S. to become a certified medical home by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). This certification recognizes excellence in quality patient-centered health care for organizations that provide medical care on an outpatient basis.

This certification confirms that IHTC adopts best practices and complies with nationally recognized standards of quality patient-centered health care. The distinction was awarded after an extensive self-assessment and on-site comprehensive review of the organization by the AAAHC physician surveyors who are actively involved in health care. AAAHC is an independent, not-for-profit organization.

Medical home standards focus on:

  • Patient rights and responsibilities, and empowerment
  • Organizational governance and administration
  • The patient/care team relationship
  • Comprehensiveness, continuity and accessibility of care
  • Clinical records and health information
  • Quality of care
