Who are we? What can we do for you?

Doctor (Hematologist)
Your doctor has special training to treat people with blood disorders like sickle cell disease.

Advanced Practice Provider (APP)
Your APP is trained as a physician assistant or nurse practitioner. Your APP works with your doctor to give you the medical care you need for your sickle cell disease.

Triage Nurse
Your triage nurses are the first people you talk to when you call IHTC. They work with your doctor and APP to help answer your questions.

Physical Therapist
Your physical therapist works with you to find exercises that will help you feel your best.

Sickle Cell Care Coordinator
Your sickle cell care coordinator makes sure your plan of care is smooth. They can work with other clinics to schedule tests you might need.

Sickle Cell Health Educator
Your sickle cell health educator can speak with you, your family members, or your school to help explain your diagnosis.

Career Counselor/School Liason
Your career counselor or school liaison helps you to reach your school and work goals.

Social Worker
Your social worker works helps answer questions about housing and managing money. They can also help you to problem solve.

Psychologist
Your psychologist can meet with you to help work through hard problems you are facing.

Insurance Coordinator
Your insurance coordinator helps you to make sure that you have the insurance you need to pay for your clinic visits and lab tests.

Genetic Counselor
Your genetic counselor can help you understand how your diagnosis might affect your children.

Dietitian
Your dietitian helps you to make a healthy eating plan.

Dental Hygienist
Your dental hygienist works with you and your dentist to help with special dental care plans. You may need a special dental care plan because of your sickle cell disease.

Community Health Worker
Your community health worker can support you through advocacy, education, and connections with community resources. They can help you get better access to the services you need.
