The Indiana Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center (IHTC) plays an active role in raising blood disorder awareness in communities around the state. Our patients live full lives in their communities. Through our outreach programs, we educate teachers, coaches, employers, and others about blood disorders and how the community can help.

Are you a school nurse?

The IHTC is pleased to provide school nurses with free educational resources designed to assist in coordinating medical care for any student with a bleeding disorder or hemoglobinopathy.

Teachers

If one of your students has a blood disorder, you may not know how to adjust your classroom or handle complications related to the disorder. Our school and career counselors can help you understand how to keep your student safe, learning, and growing in independence.

Coaches

Find out about your player’s condition, and ask about ways you can minimize risks in practice. Work with our physical therapy staff to develop a plan for team participation.

Employers

An employee with a blood disorder may require more flexibility with his or her schedule. Open communication makes you aware of your employee’s needs and helps you keep the workplace productive and safe.
