Empowering You and Your Family
Hemophilia, sickle cell disease, von Willebrand disease (VWD), Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) and certain other blood disorders run in families. To help our patients with inherited conditions understand the genetic aspects of their disorders, the Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center (IHTC) offers genetic counseling for patients and their families.
Testing
IHTC genetic counselors help patients with hemophilia, sickle cell disease, VWD, HHT and other inherited blood disorders understand their test results and options. We equip patients to make educated decisions about their care and family testing. Our genetic counselors also identify family members who have a condition, and others who may be genetic carriers of a condition. Carriers can receive genetic testing at IHTC.
Counseling
Based on your test results, your IHTC genetic counselor works with you and your family to understand the genetic aspects of your condition. We provide compassionate one-on-one education and support as you learn more about your disease.
